I have been trying to put together some stories and games to incorporate into the yoga class I will be teaching in the fall. Fortunately I have two very willing participants, that give um.. very honest advice. I think Mr. C is ready to teach his own class.
Cotton takes a little longer to warm up to a new routine, but after a few tries, he jumps right in and does his best. I pretty much just let him float in and out of the activity. We do each routine a few times a week, and by the end of the routine, Cotton is participating in most of it. While Mr. C is bored out of his mind and turning yoga poses into super heroes. Which is another fun yoga story (thanks Mr. C)
Rev, has said his first words! Just in the past month, he has said mama, daddy, and dog! He may have said milk, but I am not counting that one until I know for sure. I still can't believe he is not walking yet. He stands there, turns to one side looks both ways (while standing) and then drops to the floor and crawls laughing all the way. His favorite game is to crawl into the bathroom (a place he knows is a no no) wait for you to come around the corner, and then he will crawl as fast as he can to the toilet laughing his cute, but evil laugh. Maybe I should be glad he is not walking.
Cotton is in love. Kaylee, a girl from his social skills goup, is his new favorite person. Which is kind of funny, because Kaylee while not autistic is EXTREMELY shy in social situations. I have to remind COTTON to give her room and let her warm up to him:) I also have to decide about ESY! UGGH, can you tell I hate change. It will be a new teacher and aide over the summer, but same therapists. Part of me just want to stay home, and not worry about school this summer... but, Cotton's classmates will be there, and I know he will enjoy seeing them. I guess I will just have to accept that he will not learn anything academic there (Cotton loves to not work for new people.) I do not want him to loose the social skills he has learned this year, so I guess I will be sending him. *sigh*
