Today, sitting on our back porch during this beautiful spring break, Cotton asked me his first “W” question. “Where is M.P?” (his friend). We have learned so much about that boy since he got his talker. I simply cannot believe how much is already in this kid’s head. All of the stuff is already there. There is no drilling or prompting, it is just a simple matter of giving him the means to express it. Yesterday, I asked him where he wanted to go for lunch, not really expecting him to answer (so far, he is good at telling us things, but not so good at answering questions). About 30 seconds later I hear “Go McDonald’s eat french fries eat chicken nuggets... Daddy.” He apparently wanted his dad to go to lunch with us... he did.
At dinner he told us he wanted to go on a walk:) We haven’t taught him how to say any of this. I can’t even keep up with all of the things he is telling us now. He has also started spelling with his talker, which is so great, because in the future, he will not be limited in what he wants to say.
